Since ford separated the screen from the head unit body, they mounted it abnormally high. I think the Alpines are like this on some models. Honestly, if I had to do it over again, I might have chosen a head unit that has a single din body with a double din screen. This was the biggest source of pain and suffering in the whole install. The front fascia plate will not fit, and does not allow the head unit to be moved up far enough to sit right in the ford face plate. Only used 2 of the 4 on mine.Īlso used a Best Kits BRK540 kit, but only the side mounts. Be aware you’re not going to use all the factory plugs. I plan on wiring the "blue" remote power directly to the fuse under the passenger side kick panel to avoid auto start-stop issues, and not having to mess with FORscan to "enable" subwoofer output (which I believe only applies to XLT models and up). Therefore messing with FORscan is not necessary either since there is no remote power line for the amp/sub. Everything is factory - I do not have a "premium audio" package in the truck, nothing behind the rear seat, just the basic factory Sync 3 radio (no cd/tape deck). Again, there is no WPT-1212 in these models, just speaker wiring. I believe the 2020 XL STX model is identical to the 2018/2019 XL in terms of audio wiring. Speaker wiring diagrams for the newer 2015+ Ford F-150 XL (NOT XLT) models would be VERY helpful, as well as any input from anyone who has done an aftermarket installation in a newer XL Ford F-150 using the factory unit. My question is, where should the speaker signal be coming from? Is there a specific location where I can tap into existing speaker lines or must that come from the head unit up front? I'm looking for basic info, or step-by-step install help, to get signal from the correct speaker channel wires to the Amp (Planet Audio AC1500 mono amp) - from what I've read, it appears the remote power line has to come from a FUSE underneath the passenger side kick panel (specifically fuse #23), because the power from that fuse does not turn off from auto start-stop. My installer has wired numerous aftermarket systems, but he was relatively unfamiliar with the factory setup in my particular 2020 Ford F150 XL STX model - which wires to tap into, etc. I'm unfamiliar with wiring car audio in general, but know how to follow instructions and get things apart. Long story short, the amp/sub do not turn on because (a) it needs a remote power line installed (I'm fairly sure how to do this myself) and (b) I need to connect to the proper speaker wiring to get signal to the Amplifier - he may have already connected to the speaker properly, but the more info I have, the better, as he was unsure why he wasn't getting signal to the amp. All I know is he used RCA cables and manually "spliced" or "tapped into" some wires behind the head unit for speaker signal. He ran everything underneath the passenger side floor panels back to my rear seat (which folds up, etc.). I hired a guy to wire the system - he wired in the power cable through the firewall to the battery, as well as removing the head unit and attaching to the speaker wires (I'm not 100% sure which speaker connections he used) behind the head unit. * Amp - Planet Audio AC1500 monoblock Amp * Sub - 12" Cerwin Vega HED low-profile sub, DVC, single sub install (I don't need insane bass) * Everything is factory, no pre-amps, aftermarket radios, etc. * No WPT-1212 or pre-existing subwoofer wiring, I have only speaker wiring in this truck (the XL models do not have the WPT-1212 harness), therefore no remote power line for the amp * 2020 Ford LT STX 4x4 2.7L Ecoboost Super Crew Need some guidance on finishing up an amp and subwoofer installation for a 2020 Ford F-150 XL STX.
